Abstract
The formation of scale in the production pipeline is a problem that often occurs in the oil and gas industry, scale that is formed can inhibit the fluid flow rate in the flowline, reduce the diameter of the pipe and cause damage to production equipment reduction Scale is generally overcome using hydrochloric acid (HCL) and ethylene diamine tetracetic acid (EDTA 2Na). In this study, rambutan peel extract was used with a meeration process and used as an organic acid to reduce scale. This study discusses the effect of rambutan peel organic acids on scale and compares it with ethylene diamine tetracetic acid (EDTA 2Na) using temperature variations of 30 C °, 50 C °, and 100°C using 10, 20, and 30 minutes, so that it can determine the effect of the acid reaction on the scale. The results of testing for tannins in rambutan peel extract using UV-Vis spectrophotometry were found to be 21.63% contained in the sample extract. The two acids used contain a relatively low pH (weak acid). In this test using a concentration of 100%. The test results on the organic acid of rambutan peel resulted in a constant increase in the percentage of reduction to the high temperature and time of the sample, at 100C with a time of 30 minutes by 19%. The results of the test using EDTA 2Na at a temperature of 100C with a time of 30 minutes the percentage reduction value is 21%.
