Abstract

Efforts to improve students' dancing skills by using the drill method in learning cultural arts in class VIII-6 of SMPN 1 Bandar Seikijang in the 2019/2020 academic year. This research was conducted to improve the dancing skills of students of class VIII-6 in learning cultural arts at SMPN 1 Bandar Seikijang using the drill method. The low skills of students in demonstrating dance movements, besides that student activities in the learning process show low results of dance movement skills, this situation is because students are less skilled in dance subjects, especially in the practice of dance movements. Therefore, it is necessary to do research. The learning process of dance needs to use other learning methods, one of which uses the Drill Method which seeks to improve students' dancing skills in this cultural arts subject. Researchers use this type of Classroom Action Research (PTK). The results of the researcher's findings were carried out in class VIII-6 of SMPN 1 Bandar Seikijang 2019/2020, using the drill method of learning model. This increase can be seen from the average score of students and the percentage of student learning completeness before being given action, until the action in cycle I and cycle II is carried out which is briefly carried out, namely the student's dancing ability after being given an action, in the action cycle I the results of the questions in cycle I are obtained -Average 64.51 with a completeness percentage of 42%, after which the second cycle was carried out, it was obtained an average of 82.09 with a percentage of 100% completeness, and in class it was stated that they had achieved completeness learning.
