Abstract

Based on the fact in the field that the students of the 35 junior high school pencak silat extracurricullar showed that the results of the students' straight kick speed were still not maximal, this might be caused by a lack of student limb muscle power that is not maximal so that when the students do a weak leg muscle power kick when kicking pecing and doing partner sparing is easy to catch, other factors such as the straight kick speed is still not maximal, so it can be captured during partner sparing, besides that there are still many junior high school pencak silat extracurricullar in the 35 week junior high school who have not mastered the basic straight kick technique. This is to find out the contribution of leg muscle power to the speed of the straight kick of the students of Pencak Silat Junior High School number 35 Pekanbaru. The type of this research is correlation. The population of this study is the students of Pencak Silat Middle School extracurricullar 35 Pekanbaru, the sampling technique used is total sampling, namely sampling based on the whole population so that the number of samples in this study is 10 students extracurricular pencak silat The junior high school 35 weeks new analysis technique is the r test. From the results of the coefficient calculation, the value of rh (correlation coefficient) is obtained by the value of 0.81 at a significant level of 5% (10) rt: 0.632. Thus rh: 0.81) .t = 0.632. Whereas if seen in the Interpretation table the correlation coefficient of the value of r, 0.71 is between 0.60-0.799 and this is at the level of a strong relationship. this means that there is a meaningful contribution between leg muscle power to the speed of a straight kick pencak silat extracurricular at SMP N 35 Pekanbaru, so that it can be concluded that there is a relationship of variable X to Y variable with a contribution value of 65.61%
