Abstract

Smartphone Addiction is a quite serious problem, especially among teenagers. Teenagers' excessive usage of smartphones can lead to time wastage, which may lower productivity and even have an impact on students' academic performance. Self-control is one of the factors that can cause a person to experience Smartphone Addiction due to low self-control in a person. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control with Smartphone Addiction on students of SMA X Pinggir. The populations in this study were 202 students with a sample of 134 students. The determination of the sample in this study uses stratified sampling. The collecting data in this study implements a smartphone Addiction scale and a selfcontrol scale, each of which amounts to 33 items and 30 items. Based on the results of the Non Parametric Spearman data shows a correlation value of r = -0.238 with p value of = 0.006, which means that there is a negative relationship between selfcontrol and smartphone addiction on students of SMAN X Pinggir. The result implies that there is a negative relationship between self-control and Smartphone Addiction on students of SMAN X Pinggir.
