Abstract

ABSTRACT The existence of speed boat isvery important for the community both as the neet for transportation facilities where the people in water area neet transportation services or other. Needs ship crew who work face to face nature when the ship sailing. Speed boat business owners as sea transportation business actors in fullfiling the needs of passenger and consumer goods transportation services carried out by shipcrew often have accidents in terms of labor which is a basic problem in labor , especially in the waters under study based on law number 1 of 1970 concerning safety work in terms of legal protection becomes the basic for workers in carrying out work that has a high risk. This must be maintained and get legal protection the problem in this research is how legal protection in terms of work safety for ship crew and business owners for accupational safety and health and legal protection against the scope contained in transportation services based on law number 1 of 1970 concerning work safety. This research is on empirical/sociological legal research the data collected in this study consisted of field data. Data collection was carried out in the field and compared with legal theories with literature studies such as statutory regulations. The data analysis used is qualitative, namely by describing, then comparing the data with the provisions of laws and regulations or the opinion of legal experts finally, in the study it can be concluded that in the implementation of legal protection for ship crew based on the work safety law there are still mary violations and the elements of work safety have not been fulfulled by speed boat business owners related to safety as stated in law number 1 of 1970 concerning work safety and labor laws. Legal protection measures that can be done if the rights of workers as workers ar at great risk and must have the skills that are obtained from some training. Efforts that the crew can get in obtaining legal protection are by obtaining personal protective equipment and social security for the life of workers.
