Abstract
Development Strategy for Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) in Kampung Tengah Village, Mempura District, Siak Regency. Supervised by Dr. Fahrial, SP ,. SE ,. ME. Faculty of Agriculture. Riau Islamic University, Riau. Medicinal plants in the forest are very diverse and can be found by knowing the properties of these plants. In treating disease, of course, it must be handled quickly and accurately without having to look for drugs in the forest which takes a long time. Therefore, these medicinal plants are cultivated within the community in order to facilitate access in meeting medicinal needs. After being planted and cultivated, this medicinal plant also has a very profitable economic value. The objectives of this study were (1) to formulate farmer characteristics, (2) to formulate the TOGA Kampung Tengah farming profile, (3) to formulate the right strategy in developing TOGA Kampung Tengah. The basic method of this research is a survey. This study involved 10 respondents who were determined on purpose. Types and sources of data used are primary data and secondary data. The technique of collecting data is by direct interviews with respondents using a questionnaire that has been prepared in advance and direct observation in the field. The data analysis tools used were farmer characteristics and farm profiles, IFE-EFE and the SWOT matrix. The results showed that the Development Strategy for Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) in Kampung Tengah Village, Mempura District, Siak Regency was (1) Based on the age characteristics of the farmers were classified as productive with an average of 45.5 years, the education level of farmers was an average of 10.9 years. school, farmer experience an average of 5.15 years, and family dependents of an average of 3.9 children who are not that big. (2) Based on the farm profile, the land area of 480 m2 which is not very large, the source of capital is through a joint fee with an amount of Rp. 5,000,000.00 which is not much, and technology is still simple, such as maintenance tools and traditional post-harvest tools that affect productivity. (3) The development strategy is based on the SWOT analysis, it is known that the value of X (S-W) and the value of Y (O-T). The value of S is 1.64 and W is 0.64, so 1.64-0.64 = 1.While the value of O is 1.72 and T is 0.72, so 1.72-0.72 = 1. Then the score of X = 1 and the score of Y = 1. Farming TOGA Kampung Tengah located in the quadrant I position, which is supporting aggressive strategies. Has the opportunity and strength, namely making tourist facilities to attract public interest about the properties of medicinal plants and providing education for people who want to know the properties of medicinal plants.
