Abstract

This thesis describes the amount of youth's interest in the Korean Wave. Without realizing it, this great interest has an impact on the level of fanaticism of teenagers themselves, which can lead to a new behavior, one of which is consumptive behavior. This thesis was made to find out whether there is a relationship between fanaticism and consumptive behavior in Korean Wave fans. The research subjects in this thesis are all teenagers who like the Korean Wave in Pekanbaru City with a total sample of 250 people. Sampling using Convenience sampling technique and analyzed through the Pearson product moment correlation test. The data in this thesis were obtained through a fanaticism scale with 30 questions and a consumptive behavior scale with 22 questions. This statistical analysis shows that there is a positive and significant relationship with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.691 and a significant value (p) = 0.000 (p < 0.05), so that the hypothesis can be accepted. This shows that the teenage fans of the Korean wave who are at a high level of fanaticism, the higher their consumptive behavior will be. On the other hand, the lower the level of fanaticism in them, the lower their consumptive behavior.
