Abstract

This study aims to describe the aesthetic value of the Prahara Putri Kaca Mayang dance at Tasek Seminari Studio, Siak District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. This dance tells the story of Kaca Mayang, a princess from the Gasib Kingdom whose beauty was heard by the King of Aceh, until she was kidnapped because of a rejected proposal. Gimbam panglima who was disappointed because he didn't bring his daughter home safely. The formulation of the problem in this study is: What is the Aesthetic Value of the Prahara Putri Kaca Mayang Dance at the Tasek Seminai Studio, Siak District, Siak Regency, Riau Province? This study uses qualitative methods and research subjects amounted to 4 people as resource persons. The theory used is the theory of Djelantik (1999) where the aesthetic value of an object includes form, weight, appearance. Data collection techniques used are, (1) observation, (2) interviews, and (3) documentation. Conclusion The aesthetic value that can be seen from the Prahara Putri Kaca Mayang dance is the element of beauty, namely form or appearance, it can be seen from the shape and structure of both dance movements, fashion makeup, musical accompaniment, dynamics of floor patterns, stage and lighting. The weight or content is seen from the ideas, ideas, atmosphere of the message to be conveyed. The appearance is seen from the way the dancers bring the dance well which can convey the content of the story of the dance.
