Abstract

This thesis discusses the efforts to preserve the Poang traditional dance in Muaro Ampai Village, Bengkalis Regency, Bathin Solapan District, Riau Province. Effort is an action that a person takes to achieve what he wants or is a strategy. While preservation is developing, preserving, and maintaining all traditional culture means increasing the volume of the presentation and increasing the possibilities for renewal which are divided into three, namely: Protection, Development, Utilization. The problem in this research is How to Preserve Poang Traditional Dance in Muaro Ampai Village, Bengkalis Regency, Bathin Solapan District, Riau Province ?. The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts to preserve the Poang traditional dance in Muaro Ampai Village, Bengkalis Regency, Bathin Solapan District, Riau Province. The theory that the researchers used was Soedyawati's theory of conservation efforts. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis, with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interview, and documentation data collection techniques. The results of this study conclude that Poang Dance is still being maintained and preserved until now. Conservation consists of three aspects, namely Protection, Development and Utilization. Safeguards are carried out by maintaining the original movements of this dance as well as teaching younger dancers and doing exercises before the dance is performed. Development efforts are carried out by developing the movements and costumes used. Efforts to use are carried out by introducing this dance to the general public as well as filling in performance events to introduce and attract interest in the Poang Dance and other Sakai ethnic dances.
