Abstract

The importance of HOTS-based questions in the world of education is in order to improve the quality of learning and the quality of graduates for the nation's generation, so that teachers are required to make HOTS-based questions. This study aims to determine the profile of high school biology teachers in Bukit Raya, Pekanbaru City in making HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) based questions. This research is quantitative descriptive. The instrument used was the analysis sheet for the UAS odd year of TA.2020/2021 based on Bloom's revised taxonomy and interview sheets for high school biology teachers in Bukit Raya District, Pekanabaru City. The research was conducted from August 2020 to February 2021. The sample used in this study were all high school biology teachers in Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, totaling 7 teachers. The results showed that high school teachers in Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City had made HOTS-based questions at the C4 level of 11.2% and the C5 level of 2.7%. And there are no questions made by the Biology teacher at the C6 level. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the profile of high school biology teachers in Bukit Raya, Pekanbaru City in making HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) -based questions is included in the criteria is quite good with a percentage of 13.9%. So that efforts are needed to improve the ability of teachers to compile HOTS questions.
