Abstract

This study aims to describe in detail the Nak Lubuk Campiai dance by Nurfauziah, which was conducted in Bandar Petalangan District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province from October 28, 2020 to March 5, 2021. This dance tells of the habits of the Petalangan Tribe to catch fish using traditional tools that named Campiai, made of rattan and shaped like a tube. In this study, the authors used Alma Hawkins (1990: 11) theory in creating a dance through three stages, namely exploration, improvisation and formation. The method used by the author is descriptive analysis method using qualitative non-participant data. Data collection techniques using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of this study indicate that in the dance creation method there are three methods, namely: exploration, improvisation and formation. The ideas, themes, titles, and concepts were inspired by the customary traditions of the Petalanga tribe. In this creation, the process of incorporation and development was carried out through the zapin, lenggang and joget movements. The Nak Lubuk Campiai dance is danced by 6 dancers, 3 female dancers and 3 male dancers. There are 14 floor patterns used, the accompanying music in this dance uses recording music. The make-up used by female dancers is beautiful make-up and male dancers use natural make-up. The clothing used is the daily clothes of the Malay people, the property used is Campiai. The lighting in this dance is predominantly yellow. the pangung used is the prosenium pangung, in this dance performance does not have to use the proscenium pangung the pangung can be adjusted where this dance is performed.
