Abstract
Abstract The duties and roles of teachers as professional educators are actually very complex, not limited to when educational interactions take place in the classroom. Teachers also serve as administrators, evaluators, counselors and others according to their abilities. However, to achieve that all teachers must have a teaching style that can be attractive when the learning process takes place. Style in teaching is an absolute requirement for the effectiveness of a process in teaching. The teaching style of the teacher is closely related to student interest in learning. The teacher is the key to the success of their students and the figure who holds the key to the success of education and occupies a very important and decisive position. Moreover, as an Indonesian language teacher, we must be able to motivate students to stay enthusiastic about learning. However, the reality is that there are Indonesian language teachers who have good personalities but in their teaching style they are still unable to develop students interest in learning. Therefore it is necessary to conduct research on the influence of Indonesian language teacher teaching styles on student interest in learning. This study aims to determine the teaching style of Indonesian language teachers, to determine the learning interest of class XII students at SMA Negeri 1 Kandis, Siak Regency. This type of research is quantitative. The data in this study are quantitative data. Quantitative data obtained from questionnaires, observation and documentation. The sample in this study were students of class XII, amounting to 43 people. The data analysis technique in this research is regression analysis to find the effect of the teachers teaching style on students learning interest. From the results of hypothesis testing, it is known that the r value in the regression analysis calculation which is at the 5% significant level is 0.611. Meanwhile, the r-table value is 0.361. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the teaching style of Indonesian language teachers on student interest in learning at SMA Negeri 1 Kandis, Siak Regency.
