Abstract

The theory used is the theory of Oha Graha (1997: 44) which discusses the function of the music accompanying the fire zapin dance, namely as a rhythm giver, to provide illustrations or images of the atmosphere, to help emphasize the expression of motion, to stimulate dancers. The method used in this research is descriptive research method using qualitative methods, which is the subject in this study, namely the Khalifah or the leader of the Zapin Api dance, namely M. Havis, 1 lute instrument player, 3 bebano instrument players, and 5 dancers. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. From the results of the research that the author has done about the function of the music that accompanies this fire zapin dance, that the accompanying music functions as a rhythm giver, an overview of the atmosphere, emphasizes movement expressions, and stimulates the dancer, because it can be seen from the zapin api dance performance, music plays a very important role important in the show.
