Abstract
Orchids are ornamental plants that have high aesthetic value. The shape and color of flowers as well as other and unique characteristics make it a special attraction so that it is in great demand by consumers. This study aims to analyze: 1) Characteristics of orchid supply chain actors in Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City, 2) Orchid supply chain mechanisms related to product flow, information flow and financial (financial) flow of orchid flower businesses, 3) Supply chain distribution efficiency orchids in Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City. This research method is a survey method. The research was conducted for 6 months starting from April 2021 to September 2021. The respondents in this study were 8 orchid farmers, 2 collectors, 4 retailers and 6 consumers. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The research is analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively as well as analysis of distribution efficiency. The results show that 1) The age characteristics of all respondents are in productive age, the average length of education for farmers is 13 years, the education period for collecting traders is 14 years, the education period for retailers is 13 years, the length of education for consumers is 13 years, and the gender of farmers is all male. All male traders, all collecting traders are male, all female retailers and all female consumers, farmers experience farming with an average of 12 years, collecting traders 28 years and retailers 19 years, the number of dependents of farmers' families with an average of 12 years. 3 people on average, 2 people for collecting traders, 3 people for retailers and 3 people for consumers. 2) The mechanism for the flow of orchid supply chain products in Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City which distributes products in the form of orchids starting from farmers selling orchids to collectors, then collecting traders selling to retailers and retailers after selling to consumers, the financial flow starts from consumers flowing to retailers, retailers to collectors and collectors flows to orchid farmers, while the flow of information starts from orchid farmers to collectors, then collectors to retailers and retailers to final consumers, which occurs both ways. 3) Distribution margin is Rp. 125.000/pot, total distribution cost is Rp. 54.037/pot, farmer's share is 50%. Orchid marketing efficiency is 21.6%, so it can be said that orchid marketing in Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province has been efficient.
