Abstract
Utilization of waste is one of the best alternatives to reduce environmental pollution. Utilization of waste ash from burning coconut shells is still very limited. Here will be conducted research on the results of burning coconut shells, namely ash from coconut shells and mixed with carbon graphite and as a binder of epoxy resin. In particular, the purpose of this research is to be able to make composites from waste material from burning coconut shells, carbon graphite as a reinforcement and epoxy resin as a binder to become a composite material that has more alternative value, and to get the best mixture in the manufacture of conducting polymer composites from waste products. burning coconut shells, namely coconut shell ash, carbon graphite as reinforcement and epoxy resin as a binder to obtain the optimum value from the electrical conductivity test, observation of the microstructure and density of a mixture of coconut shell ash, carbon graphite and epoxy resin. In this study, the tests carried out include electrical conductivity tests, microstructural observations and calculations of each sample. Composite pellets with the composition of ABK 50% - KG 30% - RE 20%, ABK 40% - KG 40% - RE 20% and ABK 30% - KG 50% - RE 20% (volume fraction) were obtained by cold pressing at a pressure of five (5) tons. From the results of this study, it was found that the high electrical conductivity value in sample three (3) with a composition ratio of 30:50:20 with a value of 65.55 S.cm-1, the results of microstructure observations of sample 3 with a composition ratio of 30:50:20 show that In the sample, coconut shell ash was less than graphite carbon, visible particles and the density was better than the two previous samples because the graphic carbon content was more dominant than coconut shell ash, with epoxy resin as the particle binding medium and the sample had a density according to the SNI standard. obtained in the third sample because it has a density value above the SNI standard of 0.4 gr/cm3.
