Abstract

A hedonistic lifestyle is a lifestyle whose activities are to seek the pleasures of life, such as spending more time outside the home, playing more, being happy in city crowds, enjoying buying expensive things that they like, and always wanting to be the center of attention. Peers have a strong influence on a hedonistic lifestyle. This study aims to determine the effect of peers on the hedonistic lifestyle of students of the Faculty of Law Islamic University of Riau. The data collection method used a hedonic lifestyle scale with a total of 30 items and a peer scale with a total of 24 items . The population in this study were all students of the Faculty of Law , Islamic University of Riau, totaling 2,421 people . The sampling technique used the Slovin formula, in order to obtain a total sample size of 96 people . The data analysis method used is the Pearson product moment correlation analysis. The results of statistical analysis showed a correlation of -0.5 21 with a significance value of 0.000 (� <0.05). This shows that there is a significant relationship with a negative direction between peers and a hedonistic lifestyle in students of the Faculty of Law Islamic University of Riau . That is, the higher the peer interaction, the lower the hedonic lifestyle and vice versa.
