Abstract
The Influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Model on the Mathematical Problem Solving Ability of Class X Students of SMK Ibnu Taimiyah Vocational School Pekanbaru Valencia Anggun Melani Br Sitepu 156410627 Thesis, Mathematics Study Program, FKIP Islamic University of Riau Advisor: Sindi Amelia, S.Pd., M.Pd ABSTRACT In the process of learning mathematics, the ability to solve problems is a very important part, so this study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on the ability to solve math problems in class X SMK Ibnu Taimiyah Pekanbaru in 2018/2019 school year. This type of research is quasi-experimental research (Quasi Experiment). The design used is the nonequivalent control group design with purposive sampling technique. The population is all grade X students of SMK Ibnu Taimiyah Pekanbaru. The sample used is class X.AK as an experimental class using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and class X.AP as a control class using conventional learning. Data collection techniques were carried out using test techniques in the form of pretest and posttest. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis is to calculate the average ability of the pretest and posttest problem of the experimental class and the pretest and posttest of the control class. Based on inferential data analysis, normally distributed data is then carried out homogeneity test of data variance and t-test, so that t_(hitung )> 〖t 〗_tabel (t_(hitung )=4,48,〖t 〗_tabel=1,666) it is obtained. This means that there is an effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematical problem solving ability of class X students of SMK Ibnu Taimiyah Pekanbaru.
