Abstract

Education in Indonesia currently emphasizes knowledge and does not emphasize character values, there is a need for habituation and exemplary in shaping the character of students. The school atmosphere created will have an impact on the character of students. Therefore, with a yes, habituation from School Culture is expected to be able to improve the character of students. School culture is created so that it can create new habits in the school environment. Methods This research uses a descriptive qualitative research approach. This research was conducted in three stages (1) Observation, (2) Interview, (3) Documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of character education through school culture at SD Negeri 67 Pekanbaru is carried out by applying 5 character values, namely Religious, Integrity, Independent, Mutual Cooperation and Nationalism. From before learning begins, when learning takes place and when outside class hours. In implementing character values through school culture, there are several obstacles, namely from the teacher himself, from the school and from the students. Therefore, schools continue to improve the quality of teachers and the quality of their schools through various types of special training so that the implementation of character in this school runs according to its objectives.
