Abstract
This Classroom Action Research aimed to improve the cognitive of Biology at students grade XI IPA2 SMAN 1 Pujud Rokan Hilir Regency Academic Year 2019/2020. This Classroom Action Research aimed to improve students' cognitive of Biology at XI IPA2 SMAN 1 Pujud Rokan Hilir Regency Academic Year 2019/2020 through the Implementation of Problem Based Learning Model. The samples of this research were 36 students of grade XI IPA2 SMAN I Pujud, who were divided into 16 male students and 20 female students. The research was carried out on October to November 2019. The parameters measured were students' cognitive learning outcomes in the form of students' absorption and completeness consisting of individual completeness and classical completeness. To measure the students' absorption and completeness, the data were analyzed descriptively. Students' cognitive before the action research carried out was 72.89 and it increased reaching 76.81% in the first cycle. In the second cycle, it increased again becoming 84.50%. The Classical completeness before the action research was 61.11% and it increased in the first cycle becoming 75.00%. In the second cycle, it increased again reaching 97.22%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the implementation of problem-based learning could improve the cognitive of students grade XI IPA2 SMAN 1 Pujud Academic Year 2019/2020
