Abstract
The use of vehicles in Indonesia which continues to increase every year will certainly have an impact on the amount of fuel consumption and air pollution. Air pollution is a serious problem that must be solved. According to data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the transportation sector accounts for 75% of harmful gas emissions in air pollution. One way to reduce air pollution is by mixture pertalite with telon oil. The purpose of this study was to obtain the effect of mixture telon oil with pertalite on the performance of the piston combustion engine and exhaust gas emissions of the piston combustion engine. In this study, researcher used a mixture of telon oil with a volume of 0 ml, 3 ml, 6 ml, 9 ml, and 12 ml, 1000 ml of pertalite was used as well as testing performance by using a single cylinder combustion engine and testing exhaust gas emissions with a gas analyzer.The mixture of telon oil with pertalite has an influence on performance and exhaust gas emissions where the greater the volume of telon oil mixed in pertalite fuel, the greater its performance and reduces exhaust gas emissions. The best is obtained in a mixture of 12 ml of telon oil where for the performance of the piston combustion engine has the highest torque is 28.34 Nm, the highest power is 5.936 Nm and the lowest hourly fuel consumption is 0.986 kg/hour. In addition, the exhaust gas of the piston combustion engine obtained the lowest carbon monoxide is 7.5 ppm, the lowest Nitrogen Dioxide is 0.44 ppm, and the lowest oxygen is 13.15%.
