Abstract

Development of the Sago Industry by providing guidance on the management of the Sago Industry ownership with the aim of increasing the community's ability to manage the Sago Industry. The Department of Industry and Manpower of the Meranti Islands Regency which includes, providing direction, providing guidance, conducting coaching, providing education and training and providing guidebooks. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the Department of Industry and Manpower in the Meranti Islands Regency in the Development of the Sago Industry in Tebing Tinggi District and to find out the obstacles in carrying out the tasks of the Meranti Islands Regency. Department of Industry and Manpower in the Development of the Sago Industry in Tebing Tinggi Regency. The research method used is a quantitative method. The results showed that the development of the Sago Industry in Tebing Tinggi Regency through five indicators was in the "good enough" category where it was known that development activities had been carried out but not evenly distributed to sago business owners. Conclusion The development of the sago industry has been carried out but has not been maximized starting from determining the timing of coaching activities, the ability of officers, and evaluating the improvement of coaching efforts. The conclusion of this research is that the role of the Department of Industry and Manpower in the Meranti Islands Regency in the Development of the Sago Industry in Tebing Tinggi Regency has not been carried out optimally. However, the authors suggest that the Department of Industry and Manpower of the Meranti Islands Regency increase the time for coaching activities, the number of officers in providing guidance, and carry out evaluations in improving sago business development activities.
