Abstract
DIRECTIONS FOR COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN THE PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS IN KOTA LAMA SUBDISTRICT, KUNTO DARUSSALAM DISTRICT, ROKAN HULU REGENCY AFRIDA ESTI 163410808 ABSTRACT Historical buildings in Kotalama Village are the sites of the Kingdom of Kunto Darussalam which still have architectural building artifacts and sacred tombs. On the other hand, the existence of historical buildings is adjacent to residential areas with different historical building conditions. The existence of indigenous people, especially the elderly and the royal descendants who live in the area, have ties to the culture of the past so that they have more interest in preserving the remains of the kingdom. However, currently the community participation in Kota Lama Village to preserve historical buildings is not comprehensive and has not involved the surrounding community so there is no sustainable conservation. Therefore we need a direction for community participation in the preservation of historical buildings. This research use descriptive qualitative method, that is identifying the characteristic conditions of historical buildings, analyzing forms of community participation by interviewing the community, analyzing factors that influence community participation with Delphi analysis, and determining directions for community participation in the preservation of historic buildings. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the historical buildings found at the research site are palaces, mosques, sacred tombs and 4 old buildings that were former residents' houses. As for the analysis of the forms of community participation, it is known that the most social participation carried out by the community in Kota Lama Village is 42% and the least skill participation is 8%. The next, from the Delphi analysis for the factors that most influence community participation in the Kota Lama Village are livelihood, length of stay, willingness and awareness because from the results of the Delphi analysis stage 1 to stage 2 all respondents agree and become the most influential while factors that do not affect is the level of income because all respondents do not agree. Based on the overall results of the previous analysis, it was found that the direction for the preservation of historic buildings in the old urban village was holding discussions and meetings between community leaders, traditional leaders and descendants of kings to convey historical knowledge and introduce important historical buildings to be preserved and invite the younger generation to participate in preserving historic buildings so as to increase their willingness and awareness, as well as increasing forms of skill participation such as highlighting the value of historic buildings, rearranging and maintaining historical buildings.
