Abstract
This study aims to determine the creativity of students in learning culture arts (saman dance) in SMP Negeri 2 Siak Hulu Kabupaten Kampar. The research took place in class VIII at SMP Negeri 2 Siak Hulu. The subject of this research is 1 teacher of arts and culture in SMP Negeri 2 Siak Hulu, and 32 students. Students’ creativity is seen from the theory according to Guilfold in Munandar, consisting of 4 theories, namely: 1). Fluency in thinking seen when the teacher gives assignments in demonstrating 2). Flexibility in thinking seen when students practice the saman dance movements in accordance with the music 3). Elaboration seen when students combine dance movements in a unique way and do not change the original movements according to what the teacher gives 4). Originality seen from when students catch and produce movements that match the musical accompaniment. This research uses descriptive analysis method. Data collection techniques used include observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of the creativity data that researtchers have observed, it shows that children’s creativity in learning cultural arts should be further improved so that they can develop children’s creativity.
