Abstract

The background of this study is about the problems of students’ learning activeness in learning fiqh lessons in class VIII at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) of Al-Amin Boarding School. The importance of teacher’s ability in class management will influence the learning process in the classroom because if the teacher cannot manage the class well, there will be problems in the classroom, such as: students do not want to answer teacher'S questions, they often play, sleep, and even cannot understand what the teacher explains. Learning activeness is very important in the learning process because it can create such an atmosphere so that the students will actively ask, question, and express their ideas. The learning method applied by the teacher usually only uses the lecture method. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to apply other learning methods that are able to stimulate students’ activeness in teaching and learning activities, and one of them is by applying the question and answer method. The problem formulation of this study : Can the implementation of the question and answer method improve the students’ learning activeness in learning fiqh in class VIII at MTs Al-Amin Boarding School? The type of this study is classroom action research (CAR) with 2 (two) cycles of actions, whereas each cycle consists of 4 (four) actions, namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. Based on the data analysis obtained in the field, it can be seen that the students’ learning activeness before using the question and answer method is in the category of less active with a presentation of 50%. After using the question and answer method in cycle I, the students’ learning activeness has improved, namely in the category of fairly active with a presentation of 63%. Then the researcher continued in cycle II, the students'S learning activeness keeps improving, namely in the category of active with a percentage of 81%. So, it can be concluded that the implementation of the question and answer method can improve the students’ learning activeness in learning fiqh in class VIII at MTs Al-Amin Boarding School.
