Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of typical Riau Malay food through aapproach Realistic Mathematical Education (RME)to mathematics learning. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used in this study include observation, literature study and documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out in three stages, namely the reduction stage, the data analysis stage and the conclusion drawing stage. Based on the results of this study, there is a mathematical concept on the types of traditional Riau Malay food through the RME approach. The mathematical concept obtained is on the material of flat and curved sides. Some of the mathematical concepts found in Riau Malay traditional foods can be applied to contextual mathematics learning through the RME approach to understand mathematical concepts and link culture to mathematics learning.
