Abstract

Fear of deterrence in the book Criminology Research Methodology explains that the Correctional Center (BAPAS) itself has the task and function of carrying out some of the main tasks of the Director General of Corrections in providing guidance to correctional clients in the region. This guidance is given with the aim that clients can live well in society as citizens and are responsible, to provide motivation, so that they can improve themselves, and do not repeat crimes (residive). So to see the guidance of the Correctional Institution for correctional clients, the researcher conducted a qualitative research approach with in-depth interviews with research sources which resulted in an explanation that the treatment efforts carried out by the Pekanbaru City Penitentiary were basically not doing crime prevention globally. approach to certain situations that have the potential to support the occurrence of crime. So efforts such as being an intermediary for correctional clients, as an advocate for correctional clients, being a teacher and acting as a counselor for correctional clients are forms of Situational crime prevention. What is done by the Correctional Center Post aims to realize all the mistakes that have been made by the client. So that clients are aware of the mistakes they have made, so that clients do not repeat acts that violate criminal law, so that clients can improve themselves, so that clients can be accepted again by the community where they live. Can live naturally as a good and responsible citizen.
