Abstract

ABSTRACT AGRESIA YUSTIKA SIBURIAN (164210426) Analysis of Expenditures and Welfare Levels of Riau Islamic University (UIR) Students in Pekanbaru City. Under the guidance of Dr. Elinur, SP., M. Si. Consumption expenditure is divided into food and non-food expenses, where the number of items is used as a benchmark to determine the level of welfare of students. The purpose of this study is to analyze: 1). Student characteristics, 2). Structure of consumption expenditure, 3). Factors affecting the level of expenditure (number of items, number of dependents of parents, length of study, gender, vehicle ownership, parental education, and ethnicity), 4). The level of welfare of UIR students in Pekanbaru City. Sampling was carried out randomly (simple random sampling) consisting of 125 students and conducted using a survey and interview method which lasted for 6 months starting September 2019 to February 2020, using primary and secondary data analyzed by multiple linear regression. Research results: 1). Characteristics of students the average number of submissions is Rp.11,074,200.39 / semester, the average age of students is 20 years, the sex is dominated by women as many as 71 people, the number of dependents of students' parents is an average of 2 lives, the education of parents is average 12 years on average, and the dominant ethnic students are the Malays and Javanese. 2). UIR student expenditure structure in Pekanbaru City, first based on the number of submissions, the highest expenditure on the number of submissions is Rp.19,350,001.321,300,000 / semester with a food expenditure pattern of 43.54% and non-food items of 56.46%. Second, based on length of study, the highest expenditure in the first semester category was Rp.15,775,391 / semester with a food expenditure pattern of 37.62% and non-food items of 62.38%. Third by sex, the highest expenditure was carried out by women amounting to Rp.14,389,797 / semester with a food expenditure pattern of 38.99% and non-food amounting to 61.01%. And the fourth is based on faculties, the highest expenditure on engineering faculties is Rp.16,387,165 / semester with food expenditure patterns of 40.89% and non-food items at 59.11%. 3). The dominant factor influencing the expenditure of UIR students in Pekanbaru City is the number of submissions, length of study, and gender. 4). The level of individual welfare of all samples of UIR students in the city of Pekanbaru in the category is already prosperous.
