Abstract

Interpersonal communication is an interaction that occurs between two people such as parents and children. Having academic achievement or ability is something that every student wants as well as parents, it becomes a pride for parents when their children become academic and non-academic achievers in school. However, it is not easy to educate children to be achievers, because there are factors that make children's academic achievement can decline, both from internal factors (himself) or external factors (environment, media) with the role of interpersonal communication between parents and children, namely by way of provide motivation to children and appropriate learning methods so that they are effective in overcoming these problems. This study aims to analyze interpersonal communication between parents and children and to analyze the barriers to interpersonal communication between parents and children who excel at SDN 06 Cindakir in Bungus Teluk Kabung District, Padang City by describing the roles and learning methods given by parents to children with achievement and the attitudes of children. excel in the school environment. The method used in this research is in the form of qualitative research with a phenomenological approach that aims to identify the nature of experience regarding certain phenomena that require researchers to be directly involved in examining the research subject.
