Abstract
In the education area, it is necessary to pay attention to the completeness of pedestrian facilities and their maintenance because the university area has a relationship between the environment related to the daily activities of the academic community which not infrequently the movement of activities between one building to another, therefore a connected pedestrian path is needed. In addition to having to pay attention to the completeness of facilities and walking connectivity, pedestrian paths in the university area must provide security and comfort for users of these paths. This study uses 100 respondents to be used as an assessor of the condition of the existing pedestrian paths on each university which is divided into 5 review point per university. The walkability index method is used to find out the level of respondents' satisfaction with the condition of the available pedestrian paths and factor analysis to determine the best variable for pedestrian facilities on the campus of the Islamic University of Riau, UIN Suska Riau and the University of Riau. The type of research is descriptive quantitative and the guideline used in this research is the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works No.03/PRT/M/2014 to be used as a standardization of pedestrian facilities. The results of this study indicate that pedestrian behavior on the UIR campus consists of 73% pedestrians using full private vehicles and 27% full pedestrians. Meanwhile, the UIN campus consists of 61% pedestrians using full private vehicles, 8% pedestrians using public transportation and 31% full pedestrians. Then the UNRI campus consists of 78% pedestrians using full private vehicles, 6% pedestrians using public transportation and 16% full pedestrians. Then the results of the factor analysis on the UIR campus will be able to increase the walkability value of the respondents if the relevant parties prioritize the improvement of facilities on the road surface improvement factor, the availability of supporting facilities and connectivity factors. Then at the UIN Suska Riau campus, it will be able to increase or affect the walkability value of respondents if the related parties prioritize facility improvements on the availability of supporting facilities, connectivity factors and comfort factors on lane width. And on the Riau University campus, it will be able to increase or influence the walkability value of the respondents if the related parties prioritize the improvement of facilities on the road surface improvement factor, connectivity factor and availability of supporting facilities, then in the hypothesis test the results of the analysis found that there was no significant difference in the assessment of respondents between universities and the walkability assessment on the UIR campus found a walkability value of 54.338 on the UIN campus a score of 54,474 and the UNRI campus with a value of 52, 444 where the value is classified as 50-69, which means that it is included in the category of several facilities that can be reached on foot or quite satisfied.
