Abstract

ABSTRACT Sugiarno (144210150). The Role of Farmer Groups in Increasing Oil Palm Farmers' Income in Gunung Sari Village, Gunung Sahilan District, Kampar Regency. Supervisor Mrs. Hj. Sri Ayu Kurniati, SP, M.Si. The purpose of forming farmer groups is to improve and develop the abilities of farmers and their families as the subject of group approaches, so that they play a greater role in development. This study aims to analyze: (1) the characteristics of farmers and the profile of farmer groups; (2) the role of farmer groups; and (3) the relationship of the role of farmer groups to the income of farmer group members in Gunung Sari Village, Gunung Sahilan District, Kampar Regency. This research uses survey method, in Gunung Sari Village, Gunung Sahilan Subdistrict, Kampar Regency . Samples were taken proportional random (proportional random sampling) with a total of 30 oil palm farmers. The data used in this study are primary data obtained directly through interviews, and secondary data. Analysis of the data used is qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis and Spearman rank correlation. The results showed that: (1) The characteristics of the average productive age farmer were 44.27 years, length of education for 9.40 years (equivalent to junior high school), experience of business for 15.27 years (long enough), the number of family dependents 2 people (below the average), and land area of 4.05 ha. The profile of farmer groups has an average land area of 70.15 ha, a total of 47 people, and a total production of 205.90 tons / month. (2) The role of farmer groups in Gunung Sari Village in carrying out their functions as a learning group is classified as effective, as a vehicle for cooperation is classified as very effective, and as a production unit classified as effective. (3) The relationship of farmer groups in carrying out their functions as a learning class, a vehicle for cooperation, and a production unit to increase income shows that there is a real (significant) relationship.
