Abstract
Baitul Maal Wat Tamwil (BMT) is a sharia financial institution that combines the activities of economy and social interaction. Mitra Arta BMT exists to manage the funds of Zakat, Infaq and Shadaqah (ZIS) through an empowerment program for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) that aims to help MSME develop their business. Therefore, the researcher is interested in doing a study on the utilization of zakat, infaq, and shadaqah (ZIS) funds of Mitra Arta BMT in empowering MSME in Pekanbaru city. This study aims to investigate and understand the utilization of Zakat, Infaq, and Shadaqah (ZIS) funds of Mitra Arta BMT in empowering MSME in Pekanbaru city. The problem formulation of the study is how to utilize Zakat, Infaq, and Shadaqah (ZIS) funds of Mitra Arta BMT in empowering MSME in Pekanbaru city. The type of this study is field research with a qualitative approach method. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis by describing the symptoms, events, activities that has been existing. The descriptive research focuses on actual problems that is happening while the study is being conducted. The informants of the study are the Marketing Manager and staffs of BMT Mitra Arta as well as the MSME entrepreneurs who received Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah funds from BMT Mitra Arta. The total informants consists of 7 People. The results of this study show that the utilization of Zakat, Infaq, Shadaqah funds of Mitra Arta BMT plays a very important role for MSME in Pekanbaru City due to the provision of capital in the form of money or goods such as providing additional capital or completing the equipment needed by mustahiq, providing business development support systems such as providing theory and training and increasing competitiveness such as providing coaching and direction. Consequently, this empowerment program has made the MSME entreprenuers easy to carry out their MSME business well.
