Abstract

Tourism is a concern both in terms of economy, politics, state administration, and sociology, it is also often seen as a leading sector in the world economy, also many countries in the world depend their economies on the tourism sector, this of course requires sustainable tourism (Suistanable Tourism) so that nature and the environment are maintained, especially in the PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala area in the Bintan Islands. This sustainable tourism practice is important, because it does not only mean consuming natural and cultural resources, but also conserving them is also not only beneficial for a few people, but aims to distribute profits more widely among stakeholders and communities, so that it remains sustainable for society and also the environment. This certainly raises the question, how is the application of the principle of sustainable tourism at PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala? This application is necessary because it relates to protecting nature and the participation of the surrounding community as categorized by Article 10 of the Global Code of Ethics For Tourism (GCET), which includes tourism's contribution to mutual understanding and respect between the community and tourists, Tourism as a means of individual and collective fulfillment; and Tourism is a factor of sustainable development. The implementation of suistanable tourism at PT Bintan Cakrawala runs in accordance with UNWTO and Law Number 10 of 2009 concerning Tourism, the application of Suistanable Tourism also makes the economy as well as the welfare of the local community increase, this can be seen from the activities carried out by PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala in embracing the surrounding community with education from elementary school to senior high school level as well as local residents who work at PT Bintan Resort Cakrwala. The obstacles faced by PT Bintan Resort Cakrwala at this time are the impact of the outbreak of Covid 19, this has led to a decrease in the number of tourists who come to the resorts owned by PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala, thus affecting the economy and welfare of the surrounding community.
