Abstract

ABSTRACT Sumandra Hari, 2019. Thesis. Application of the 5W + 1H Formula in Writing News in the Criminal Rubric in the Merdeka.Com News Portal Media in 2019. This study is entitled "The Application of the 5W + 1H Formula in Writing News in the Criminal Rubric in the Merdeka.Com News Portal Media in 2019". The research problem is whether the writing of news in a criminal rubric in the merdeka.com news portal media has already applied the 5W + 1H formula. This study aims to gather information and data about the application of the formula 5W + 1H in writing news in the Criminal rubric in the news portal media merdeka.com in 2019. The information and data collected will be described, analyzed, interpreted and concluded about the application of the 5W + 1H formula in news writing on the merdeka.com news media portal in 2019. The theory used by Sedia Wiling Barus in 2010. Sources of data and data in this study are national news published or posted on November 4-10 of 2019 in the independent news media portal .com The research method used is descriptive method, the type of research used library research, and the research approach used is qualitative. Data collection techniques using documentation techniques and hermeneutic techniques. The conclusions in this study are: (1) the formula for relating news sources that refer to individuals, groups, or institutions has been applied to all news that become the data of this research and how to write and apply it correctly; (2) the formula of what relates to the news topic concerning an event or event has been applied to all news that constitutes this research data and how to write and apply it correctly; (3) the formula where relates to the place of occurrence of events or news has been applied to all news that become the data of this research and how to write and apply it correctly; (4) formula when related to the time of occurrence. In this study, he found many news with elements when only found when the news was posted; (5) the formula of why is related to the purpose of fulfilling the curiosity of the reader regarding the cause of an event, there are still some news that have not applied the formula why, namely in the data: 3, 5, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 25, 27, 29, 30, 31, 33, 34, and 35. The news cannot be said to be complete news according to theory; (6) the formula of how is related to the way or process of events that occur also found news that have not applied the formula of how to the news namely on data: 3, 22, 26, 30, and 34. So the news is how to write and its application is not correct.
