Abstract

Grateful is a state of being aware of and grateful for the good things that happened. The Islamic view of grateful can be seen from 3 dimensions namely being grateful with the heart, grateful with the tongue, and grateful with the deeds. Thankfulness of an individual is very influential on the body image it has. Therefore, based on previous research, it shows that having a high sense of gratitude will have a more positive body image. This study aims to determine the relationship between thankfulness with body image on early adult women who are fat body at the Islamic University of Riau. The subject of this research is early adult women who are in Islamic University of Riau and meet certain criteria as many as 90 people. The sampling technique is accidental sampling. The research data was taken using a scale of 51 items and a body image scale of 52 items. The analysis used in this research is the product moment correlation. Statistical analysis results obtained a value (r) of 0.589 and a value of Sg (2-tailed) or p 0,000 (p <0.05) this means that „ it means that there is a positive and significant correlation between thankfulness with body image. This means that the higher the thankfulness so the higher the body image. Vice versa, the lower the level of thankfulness, so the lower the body image. The relationship between thankfulness and body image is 34.7%.
