Abstract

The Indonesian government continues to advance entrepreneurship through MSMEs in all circles, especially among students. Therefore this study aims to examine the effect of hardiness personality and social support on achievement motivation in entrepreneurship on students.The subjects of this study were 254 students of the Islamic University of Riau (UIR) who were selected through the Convenience sampling technique. Data collection uses a questionnaire that contains 3 scales, namely, the hardiness personality scale which amounts to 17 items, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) to measure social support which amounts to 12 items and the achievement motivation scale amounts to 26 items. The statistical analysis used in this study is a simple and multiple linear regression analysis with the help of the SPSS 23.00 for windows program.The result of simple linear regression analysis shows that the influence of hardiness personality on achievement motivation is R = 0.491 and R2 = 0.241. While the effect of social support on achievement motivation is R = 0.327 and R2 = 0.107. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that there was an influence of hardiness personality and social support on achievement motivation of B = .429, t = 7.281, and p <0.05 and B = .159, t = 2.697 and p <0.05.The implications of this study indicate that hardiness personality has an important role in achievement motivation among students in entrepreneurship. Therefore it is necessary to strengthen within students.
