Abstract

X Well has a depth of 896 ft with unconsolidated sandstone rock types. Therefore, the shallow reservoir makes the main problem for well X is sand production. Well X has a high basic sediment (BS) production of 2.1% and requires frequent well intervention to clean up formation sand production. Screenless frac-pack operation as a solution to optimize oil production through well lifetime or a maximum tolerance of BS% to reduce well intervention. This research is focused on planning and evaluating screenless frac-pack with the FracCADE 5.41 simulator to get an optimal results in overcoming the problem of sand in well X. Planning was carried out using the lightweight ceramax 20/40 proppant with concentrations of 1-10 PPA and HPG as fracture fluids with total volume 18810 gal. The type of fracture geometry used is the PKN model. In the initial design, the fracture length geometry was 103 ft, the fracture width was 0.21 in, and the fracture height was 33.74 ft. From these results, a redesign was made which then obtained the fracture length geometry of 137.2 ft, fracture width 0.237 in, and fracture height 33.74 ft. As a result, there was a 3.4 times increase in permeability after screenless frac-pack from 56 mD to 191.1 mD and also the productivity index increased by 2.64 times, with the skin value after operation at -4.6.
