Abstract

Character is something that cannot be separated from a person. The reduced character of the younger generation at this time is an important concern for the level of education. Character problems that are often found at this time start from problems that occur in the classroom, in the play environment and in the student's home environment. Education in Indonesia seeks to improve and instill character in the nation's next generation from an early age through the KDP program. This program is expected to be able to overcome and improve the character of the nation's next generation in facing future challenges by implementing 5 main character values, namely Religion, Integrity, Nationalism, Mutual Cooperation and Mandiri. This research method uses qualitative research with a naturalistic inquiry approach. This research uses three stages. (1) Observation, (2) Interview, (3) Documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the PPK program at SD Negeri 18 Pekanbaru is seen from the planning, namely that there is a special team for the PPK program in preparation for implementing intracurricular and extracurricular learning as well as facilities and infrastructure that are quite supportive in the implementation of this program. Judging from the implementation which is quite good by applying the 5 main character values in the intracurricular and extracurricular learning process by the Principal, Homeroom Teacher, Parents and Students. And seen from the evaluation that is carried out every mid-semester or every six months with the Principal, a special team for the PPK Program and homeroom teachers.
