Abstract

This study aims to find out about the development of Braid Horse Dance in the Ukui District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. The theory used is Miftah Thoha. The approach used in this research is descriptive analysis using qualitative data. Data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The formation of the Kuda Kancing dance at the Turunggo Sekar Kencono studio was conducted on the evening of Friday, routine training and special training on 1 day before taking part in circumcision or weddings and other events. And at a certain time the coach will do a bath or clean the masks in return for the mask keeper which can be done 4 or 5 times a month. The subjects in this study were 3 people consisting of the chairman, dance coordinator, and music coordinator. The results during conducting research at the Turunggo Sekar Kencono studio were the development of the Horse Braid Dance through the Turunggo Sekar Kencono Studio for dancers to practice on Friday night, usually done at 9 to 12 pm. The training of this dance is very meaningful at Sanggar Turunggo Sekar Kencono to foster, develop, and preserve traditional dance, especially the Kuda Kancing dance
