Abstract
ABSTRACT The physical and chemical properties of crude oil often store waxy or paraffin ingredients, so this is exacerbated by temperature naturally and causes problems that are difficult to produce. Solid paraffin particles flowing in the reservoir can clog pores or stick to the pore walls. One method used in the handling of paraffin is the electromagnetic heating (EMH) method by utilizing the electrical energy used to heat the formation. The success of an EMH can be determined by investigating the most dominant parameters in increasing the recovery factor (RF). This study aims to determine the most dominant parameters among test parameters that can increase oil RF. Test parameters studied are operating parameters and reservoir parameters including irradiation time, fluid saturation, formation water salinity, electrical power, heterogeneity, and wettability chosen to be performed screening. This study uses a combination of fractional factorial design and reservoir simulation. Fractional factorial design will divide into several simulation models which will be simulated by the CMG STAR simulator. RF obtained will be analyzed using Modde 5 statistical analysis software to determine the most dominant parameters in increasing oil RF with EMH method in high paraffin reservoir reservoir. The most dominant parameter that can increase the value of oil RF in EMH method in paraffin content reservoir is water saturation with values The smallest P is 4.32329e-009 and the coefficient is negative at -8.045 which means that reducing the amount of Water Saturation from 24 to 50 will increase the RF oil. The second dominant parameter is heterogeneity between heterogeneous and homogeneous rock types with a P value of 0.048287 and a coefficient of -0.972 which means that which means more heterogeneity can increase oil RF. Then followed by wettability between types of oil wet and water wet with a P value of 0.294312 and a coefficient of 0.445 and electrical power in the range of 30-60 with a P value of 0.826838 and a coefficient of 0.090. Meanwhile, the parameters of irradiation time and Fluid Salinity do not have a significant effect on this study.
