Abstract

The Influence of the Discussion Method on the Learning Motivation of Class XI Science Students at SMA Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the discussion method and the effectiveness of student learning motivation. Then to determine whether or not the influence of the discussion method on student learning motivation and how much influence the application of the discussion method has on the learning motivation of class XI science students at SMA Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru. The research approach used is a quantitative approach. The type of research used is field research. The research population was all students of class XI IPA SMA Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru totaling 70 students. The research sample uses the saturated sample technique. The data collection technique used a discussion method questionnaire and a learning motivation questionnaire. Data analysis consisted of simple regression analysis to determine the effect of the discussion method on students' learning motivation. Then descriptive statistical analysis to describe the method of discussion on student learning motivation. And the interpretation of the effectiveness of the questionnaire data to determine the results of the effectiveness of the discussion method and student learning motivation. The results showed that: 1) the effectiveness of the discussion method in the very effective category was 85.09%, 2) students' learning motivation in the effective category was 73.42%. Then, 3) there is an effect of the discussion method on students' learning motivation, and 4) the magnitude of the influence of the discussion method on the learning motivation of class XI science students at SMA Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru is 20%.
