Abstract
This study aims to improve the learning process and improve learning outcomes of class VIII3 students of SMP Negeri 4 Siak Hulu through the application of probing prompting models. The subjects in this study were 41 students. This research was conducted on July 25, 2017 until September 20, 2017. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. The data collection instruments used in this study were observation sheets and daily test test sheets. Based on the results of the study, it was seen that there was an increase in student activity where students were more enthusiastic about paying attention to their teacher and also more focused on concentrating on attending lessons, daring to ask questions and express opinions and also recalling the material that had been delivered by the teacher. Based on student learning outcomes, the increase in learning outcomes can be seen from the number of students who reached the KKM at the base score as many as 17 students or 41.46%, on the daily test I the number of students who reached KKM were 24 students or 58.54%, and the number achieving KKM in the second daily test of 28 students or 68.29%. Based on the average student learning outcomes at the base score of 64.37, the daily test I on average student learning outcomes is 70.49, and on the daily test II the average student learning outcomes are 79.17. So it can be concluded that the application of the probing prompting model can improve the learning process and improve the learning outcomes of class VIII3 of SMP Negeri 4 Siak Hulu in the 2017/2018 school year, especially in relation to material and functions.
