Abstract

ABSTRACT Family communication patterns are a form of family that is carried out in a relationship between family members in conveying messages to other members. Assertive behavior is behavior that is full of assertiveness that arises because of the emotional freedom from every effort to defend one's rights as well as the existence of an effective condition that supports it, which includes knowing personal rights and doing something to get these rights and doing it as an effort to achieve emotional freedom. . This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between family communication patterns and assertive behavior of adolescents who are students at SMA Negeri 11 Pekanbaru. This type of research is correlational quantitative in nature. Given the wide scope of the problem, the authors need to provide a limitation of the problem to be studied, namely on family communication patterns and assertive behavior. The formulation of the problem in this study is whether there is a relationship between family communication patterns and assertive behavior among adolescents who are students at SMA Negeri 11 Pekanbaru? The data collection tool used was a questionnaire. The population in this study was 160 students. Sampling using purposive sampling technique as many as 114 people. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that there was a significant positive relationship between family communication and adolescent assertive behavior with a value of r count> r table, namely 0.573> 0.227 with the level of the relationship being in the medium category. This means that the more positive adolescents have family communication, the more positive adolescent assertif behavior will be. In general, adolescents at SMA Negeri 11 Pekanbaru have high assertive behavior
