Abstract

The condition of coral reefs in the Anambas Islands Regency are generally still in a fairly good condition, this indicates that there is damage to coral reefs. This happens as a consequence of bomb and potassium activities, although in some areas beautiful coral reefs can still be found. To maintain the remains of existing coral reefs, of course more work is needed from related parties such as the Department of Marine and Fisheries (DKP) and the Environment Agency (BLH). Regarding this, the Anambas Islands District Government must take a position to overcome the damage to coral reefs in some of Anambas' sea points, among others by establishing sanctions for the community or perpetrators who damage coral reefs, among others, based on the Regional Regulation of Riau Islands Province Number 3 2010 concerning Coral Reef Management. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence damage to coral reefs in the Anambas Islands Impo Village Case Study as well as policies carried out to protect coral reefs. The method used is descriptive qualitative method; Techniques for collecting data on interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study can be concluded that the influence of development activities on coral reef ecosystems is quite large, including direct coral destruction through bomb explosions and coral mining, pollution from various activities along the coast, and sedimentation that can increase turbidity of waters and inhibit coral growth, even deadly Coral reefs. But based on observations in the period 2000-2006, development activities that have the greatest influence on coral reef ecosystems are land clearing activities.
