Abstract

The development of technology and the increase of internet users, opens up the opportunities for users to gain profits, one of which is through online business. Thus giving rise to a new form of crime, that is deception under the guise of online store. Online deceptions as of September 2020, is in the top two positions. 28.7% of cybercrimes came from that category. From 2016 to September 2020, a total of 7047 online cases were reported. On average, there are 1409 cases of deception every year. The rise of online deception occurs through social media, especially Instagram. In the jurisdiction of the Pekanbaru city police resort, where during the span of 2017 there have been 98 cases of online deceptions in the Pekanbaru city. Deception under the guise of online store in Pekanbaru city itself, 11 incidents have been recorded since 2019. Deception under the guise of online store can be disguised well, even people who often use the internet are not aware that they have been deceived. The research was conducted in thePekanbaru city. The informants in this study were four people who had been victims of deception under the guise of online store through Instagram. The main cause of the four informants to become victims was the lack of thoroughness during the transaction process.
