Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the personality of the big five with forgiveness in the Faculty of Psychology students at the Islamic University of Riau with a total sample of 247 people. The sampling technique in this study uses proportionate stratified random sampling method. The forgiveness measurement scale in this study is based on aspects of avoidance motivation, revenge motivation, beneviolence motivation, while the big five personality measurement scale is based on the dimensions of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness to experience. The results of this study use pearson product moment correlation analysis. The results of the analysis test that has been done show that there is a significant relationship between the personality of big five with forgiveness in the Faculty of Psychology students at the Islamic University of Riau with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.183 with a significance value of 0.004 (ρ˂0.05).
