Abstract

Miftah Faridati (164110267) research entitled "Allelochemical Potential of Alang-Alang Rhizome Extract (Imperata cylindrica) as a Vegetable Herbicide Inhibits Germination and Growth of Bandotan Weed (Ageratum conyzoides L.)". The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of alang-alang rhizome extract on the germination and growth of bandotan weeds. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City for three months from February to April 2020. The research design used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one factor. The factor was alang alang rhizome extract which consisted of 5 levels, namely 0 g/L water, 50 g/L water, 100 g/L water, 150 g/L water and 200 g/L water with 5 replications so that there were 25 experimental units. . In each experimental unit there were 3 polybags so that in total there were 75 polybags. Parameters observed were germination age (days), percentage of germination (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), dry weight (g), other types of weeds that grew and phytochemical tests. The last observation data were statistically analyzed and continued with the further BNJ test at the 5% level. The results showed that the effect of the concentration of alang-alang rhizome extract was significant on germination age, percentage of germination, plant height, number of leaves and dry weight. The potency of the extract to inhibit the germination and growth of bandotan started at an extract concentration of 5% (50 g/L water), while the concentration that gave the best effect to inhibit germination and growth of bandotan was the extract concentration of 20% (200 g/L water).
