Abstract

ABSTRACT The research area is located in Bukit Karang Putih hills of Indarung, Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang City, West Sumatra Province. Based on Astronomy is in the coordinates 100027’51” BT - 100028’42”BT and -0057’24” LS -0058’16” LS. The geomorphological unit are karst denudational hills and mountains (hilly land and denudasional karst slopes). In the study area there are several rock units in the form of Mudstone limestone units and Kristalin limestone units. The analysis was conducted to assess the quality of limestone as a material for cement, there are XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence). In XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) test the average value of CaCO3 is 80.5% which means that it has met the quality standards of good cement raw materials. While the XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) test on mudstone limestone obtained an average value of 84% CaO, SiO2 6.25%, Al2O3 1.75%, Fe2O3 1.25%, MgO 1% and H2O 5.75% which means that it meets the quality standards of raw materials good cement. And the crystalline limestone obtained an average value of 69% CaO, 18.66% SiO2, 3% Al2O3, 2% Fe2O3 2%, MgO 1% and H2O 6%which means that it has met the quality standards of good cement raw materials.
