Abstract

Academic stress occurs because individuals are unable to complete existing academic demands. Academic stress is closely related to personality. A student has a different response and level of resilience in the face of existing academic demands. This study aims to determine the relationship between the dimensions of the big five personality with academic stress on students with a total sample of 116 students. The scale used in this study is the Big Five Inventory (BFI) and the academic stress scale. This study uses a non-parametric analysis technique with the Spearman's Rank method. The results of the statistical analysis test showed that there was a significant positive relationship between the dimensions of neuroticism and academic stress. While the dimensions of extraversion, agreeableness, counsientiousness, and openness have a significant negative relationship with academic stress.
