Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of basic percussion line training in the AndamDewi Marching Band, Bengkalis Regency Riau province, includes warming up before practice and playing techniques used on the percussion line.The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative and this research uses deductive theory where the researcher provides information starting from certain thoughts on the data to be explained.Data collection techniques by (1) observation, (2) interviews, and (3) documentation. The stages in analyzing the data are (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, and (3) conclusion. To check the validity of the data is done by triangulation of data collection techniques.The results showed that the application of basic percussion line exercises in the Marching Band andamDewi, Bengkalis Regency, used body warm-up and technique warm-ups.After entering the percussion line division training, the players warmed up to relax the fingers and wrist muscles, performed without sticks/mallets, then using sticks/mallets. The warm-up technique used is Griping stick/mallet, basic stroke, basic percussion, dynamic rule, legatto stroke and staccatto stroke. There are 2 kinds of basic stroke, natural stroke and down stroke, up stroke is not learned because it is difficult to practice it. For the basic rudiment of the PIT percussion instrument, it uses single stroke rudiment, double stroke and additions from the trainer, namely accent tap, digadigabur roll and double stop. For Battery percussion, use single stroke rudiment, double stroke/diddles, roll, accent tap and Flam. All the techniques provided are only techniques that support the songs that will be played for each race event.
