Abstract

This research is a qualitative research with in-depth interviews and limited observations. The research subject is someone who has a sexual deviation (GAY). Data collection methods used are observation and interviews (interviews). This study aims to determine what coping strategies are used by gay people. Gay is a type of sexual orientation that belongs to a minority group in Indonesia. The minority status owned by the gay group causes stigma and negative behavior given by the community and causes stress to gay people. This stress will have a negative impact on the mental health of a gay person and efforts are needed to deal with this stress. This research was conducted on 2 gays by interviewing them. The results obtained indicate that the two gays do different coping. The first subject shows emotion focused coping and the second subject shows problem focus coping.
